30" Cinema Display with ATI Radeon 9600 Pro

I want to purchase a 30" Apple Cinema Display for my oldish G5 (2x2.0). I have the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro graphics card. System requirements for display lists Radeon 9650 as minimum card to use.

Is anyone running the 30" with the 9600 Pro? What resolution can I expect?

Not sure what card I would need if the 9600 Pro will not work. Anyone? I want to run this monitor at highest res.

G5 dual 2.0, iBook G4, MacBook, Alienware (XP), Mac OS X (10.5.2)

With the stock 9600, the 30" will only run a 1280 x 800. For full resolution you will need an AGP graphics card with dual-link DVI.

Starting with the fastest:

ATI Radeon X800 XT 256MB (One ADC, one dual-link DVI) (May have problems with Leopard)

NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra 256 MB (Two dual-link DVI)

NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT 256 MB (Two dual-link DVI)

ATI Radeon 9650 XT (One single-link, one dual-link DVI)

I just purchased an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro Mac Edition AGP card and installed it in a PowerMac G5 with a 30" Cinema Display. The display works at full 2650 x 1600 resolution. It is important to note, however, that only one of the two DVI ports on the back of the 9600 card is dual-link. If you plug the Cinema Display into the single-link port, it will only display at 1280 x 800 resolution. You must, of course, plug the Cinema Display into the dual-link port to get the full 2650 x 1600 resolution.
