Itunes cannot Sync with Iphone

Suddenly today when I connected my Iphone I was presented with the following message by Itunes " Itunes cannot sync information with the iPhone "iPhone" because syncing has been disabled on this computer. Do you want to enable syncing?".

So I was a bit confused as nothing has changed, but pressed yes only to presented another dialog box saying "Syncing cannot be enabled on this computer." I have two options Ok and Override, pressing either seems to let the iPhone sync (minus address book and calender)

Whats happened, I've searched high and low, i cannot see what has changed, I've tried re-installing OSX but still have same problem. Is anyone else out there having this problem, how do I overcome it?

Cheers

I am also having the same problem and it just happened for the first time today when I connected my iPhone to my Mac while on a call with someone. I have tried different USB ports and restarting the phone but no luck.

Thanks guys for the "restoring permissions" advice, that really helped and I have now been able to sync iTunes music on my iPhone, and the calendar and contact on my iPod which also was not working. But I still can't seem to get the calendar and contacts over to my iPhone. It just does not allow me to tick the sync selected applications box and chose iCal and Address Book.

Any ideas anyone?

Many thanks for this solution! After I renamed the Local folder to Local_backup, iTunes immediately began syncing correctly, without the annoying error messages.

Earlier today I spent 40 minutes on the phone with Apple tech support, until they inadvertently hung up on me (and didn't call me back). The techs had never heard of this iTunes problem and had no idea how to fix it.

Same thing here with my girlfriend´s macbook and original iphone. itunes does not recognize her iPhone when connected. I tried her iPhone on my macbook with 9.0.1 and there it is shown under devices. This is really bad!
Any other victims of the 9.0.2 update? I already saw some iPod and iPod touch users reporting the same issues, so it seems to be a problem regardless of the connected device? Perhaps somebody was a little too eager on the way to lock out the palm pre users... what I don´t understand since I thought apple was not an evil player in the industry..

So, what to do? Already reseted and rebooted, but doing so did not help. Any way to get 9.0.1 back?
