Macbook Screen Glitch

Hi there guys, I was wondering if anyone else here has experienced massive glitches on the screen?

Something like this:

It happens whenever I use my computer for prolonged periods like few hours and/or when I task the CPU/GPU with with lots of application and processes. Upon a restart the computer works fine again until the next few hours or so. I have the Merom/Santa Rosa model with 4GBs of RAM but I have heard Penryn MB and MBP owners experiencing this same issue too. I have called up Apple Support three times and I have done whatever they told me to do aka running Apple hardware test and using a different account, heck I have even re-installed Leopard but still the problem persists. I am assuming that it is Software related but I would like to know if any of you guys have encountered this problem?

Apart from this appears to be some kind of liquid leaking from the crevice of the battery latch. It is not from the battery but appears to be coming from inside the computer. I have ran a check on Google and found out that it was in fact a processor coolant. There have been claims by those who open up the MB and MBP; that excessive amounts of this liquid has been placed inside the computer. I don't know if this is the case in my MB as I have not opened it up but I do notice excessive heat coming from it. The heat goes around 65-70C which is around a few hours of operation or when a few applications are open and running simultaneously. This is probably when the fan kicks in and goes off after a short moment.

I am beginning to think that the glitch and leaks are interrelated caused by the same thing and that being heat build up inside the case.

Ok I have got mine fixed too - they replaced logic board as well. They wouldn't wana take in the machine at first, just upon seeing the screen shots thinking I faked it or something. They asked how it happens and I said whenever the RAM runs out because of the applications I use. I replicated it on the Genius Bar like opening the entire season of Prison Break, some of pictures, movies, Ps and so on - funny thing is - the computer was acting just fine, even after being on for 3 days which I left it on purpose hoping that to show the issue right away. Something about the last update made the RAM management better or so I believe, eventually I managed to replicate the issue, but the Genius received the credit from his superiors 😟

It took them 3 days to fix up the notebook, not to bad. Despite me saying that I have done a backup on Time Machine, I notice that they have backed up my stuff prior to opening it up and updating it to the current state. I know this because iTunes was not installed when I received my machine back. Nevertheless I reinstalled Leopard and I have to say am a lil disappointed with Time Machine as a back up option.

I thought it only involves

Step 1 - Reinstall Leopard using CDs
Step 2 - Transfer Data from external Volume

Unfortunately that is not it, there is a Step 3 as Software updates are not applied when you transfer the date from the Time Machine volume, which means the process of getting up and running just got longer.

I believe the best back up is hardware and that's RAID - 0, and that is only possible on a Mac Pro.

Still something is better then nothing, but just imagine, when you are like somewhere in 10.5.9 or something and updating all the way from 10.5

I guess I should be cloning my hard drive periodically soon.

Well there is three things that I would like to point here upon the logic board replacement. One, the Macbook EFI Firmware Update could only be installed manually and Two, which slightly bothers me is that the Serial Number no longer exists withing the Macbook. Third which doesn't bother me that much is Time Machine not recognizing the previous back ups as I do plan to reformat the back up volume.

Apparently for the no serial number case which is the issue for all logic board replacements, there is nothing really that we could do. Apple have recently came up with a Blank Board Serializer which reassigns serials, however this is not available to the public. I will contact them again and if its just something which requires a quick minor tinkering then maybe I will get it fixed, otherwise its cool.

It hasn't even been 90 days since my logic board replacement under warranty and the glitch problem is back yet again.

It wasn't around until recently, am getting very annoyed with this.

I had to return to Apple because the forgot to key in back the serial number

and now the problem is back again.

Sigh...

thats horrible man 😟

its been 2 months since the fixing and everything (knock on wood) has been pretty much perfect! I am slamming the **** out of this machine haha. I do restart it once a week, i must. when it gets near the 9th or 10th day of being on i start getting small issues, but i like to restart once a week anyways. No glitch problems though! I hope it stays fine, and i do hope that your issues get resolved, sorry its been so much trouble.

lets hope i did not jinx my self. haha
