Video from PowerPoint won't import

I have created .mov files from a PowerPoint presentation. I have tried to import these files into GarageBand to add sound tracks.

But the .mov files will not import.

Does anyone know why these videos won't import?

I just tried the same with a ppt presentation and had the same problem. Somehow Powerpoint doesn't create a correct movie. What worked for me:

1. Opening the .mov file in Quicktime Player and exporting it again as a QT movie. (I think you need QT Pro to do that.)

2. Opening the ppt file in Keynote and creating a movie that I could import into GB without a problem.

Thank you.

I really needed to know that it wasn't my PowerPoint slideshow or settings that was causing the problem.

I was able to get the movie into the GarageBand by running the PowerPoint show and then recording it using iShowU.

But the Keynote to QT route sounds good. I'll remember it.

I wonder what it is that causes the .mov from PowerPoint not to work.

huh.

in that case it's important to remember that a .mov is a container which can contain multiple types of media and use various codecs, so it sounds like GB simply doesn't support whatever ppt is exporting (like the way some MIDI files, and even some mp3s (correctly labeled) won't import without pre-processing.

it would be interesting to find out what exactly ppt IS exporting.
