All Send mail servers show offline...POP & IMAP

So all my outgoing mail servers are showing offline...this includes .Mac, an IMAP company email and POP company email....has been like this for a couple days.

I get mail okay, all other internet functions seem fine...

Using a Airport Extreme router...might that be blocking it?

Have tried a few different ports recommended on other discussions, but no luck so far...

Additional info...

I ran connection doctor...all the incoming mail servers showed green, but all outgoing showed red...the POP email (which is via GoDaddy) will not even reject its just stuck on "Connecting to server..."

The .Mac says "Could not connect to this .Mac SMTP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, uncheck the "use SSL" checbox in the account preferences"

What if, as an experiment, you select Edit Server List for the outgoing server of one of the accounts, and add a new one with the information for that account. Give it a name like Test and try sending mail with it.

Your network connectivity is OK so there must be something amiss in Mail. I wonder if the configurations got messed up, perhaps invisibly.

Two things that might help...(mine is working now)..

1) If you are using little snitch uninstall it.

2) I ended up removing all my preferences. First go to User>Library>Mail and copy that to your desktop to back up your mail. Then copy all your prefs from user>Library>Preferences to a backup folder. Then delete them. Restart you computer. All your doc settings, etc will be gone but that might fix the issue. Then you can either start fresh or copy the prefs back one by one until you figure out the issue.

3) If you want to reimport your mail (if you have saved mail on your comp) go to mail>file>import mailboxes and reimport your mail folder from your desktop.

Hi,
I have similar problem I cannot send email since upgrading to OS X 10.5.3 as have many others in this forum. My connection doctor shows all green Checked correct port 527 and deleted ad re-installed mail account. All of which makes no difference. Can still send emails using iphone on same wireless router that my laptop is unable to use. Everything else works fine safari etc. Did have Little Snitch and it worked fine with that BEFORE OS X 10.5.3 Have uninstalled Little Snitch and still not able send emails !!! Help please

All I can suggest is the bit above about deleting your preferences.

I was on the phone for an hour with AppleCare and thats what it boiled down to. Did that, rebooted, then added the accounts and everything worked. I tried adding the prefs back and it stopped working again. So I once again deleted them. Something in them must be corrupted or something. Not a huge deal I just went back into my settings and fixed desktop stuff and a few other things.

I fixed it! With the help of Jared from 1800-My-Apple (give him a cookie).

1. Open mail server settings from desired server
2. Under "Advanced" change:
3. Server port to 587 (It's probably set to 25)
4. Enable SSL if it is off
5. make sure Authentication is enabled as password
6. input correct username and password (remember, username is probably sans your @whatever.com)

7. repeat 1-6 for Comcast, Google, .Mac, etc.

8. enjoy sending mail again!

Adam

THANKS JARED!
