All Send mail servers show offline...POP & IMAP

So all my outgoing mail servers are showing offline...this includes .Mac, an IMAP company email and POP company email....has been like this for a couple days.

I get mail okay, all other internet functions seem fine...

Using a Airport Extreme router...might that be blocking it?

Have tried a few different ports recommended on other discussions, but no luck so far...

I had the same problem - after upgrading to 10.5.3 I couldn't send email (I connect to an Exchange 2003 server via IMAP / SMTP).

After going through the settings a few times, I realised that "Use SSL" was ticked on the SMTP server settings - unchecking this (turning off SSL) worked.

(we don't use SSL as the server is for internal use only - I'm guessing the upgrade enabled it by default for security)

My wife had similar problems. My carrier is Earthlink. After spending 3 hours on phone, we determined
Earthlink was not the problem (could send and receive on Webmail server). The solution was deleting all accounts from Mail and then restarting Mail. Without any accounts you will get the Mail start up window. I then added my Earthlink and AOL accounts and now no problems sending mail. Of course,
you need to know the settings for your email carrier to set this up but the Mail startup window almost automatically works.
