Safari - 10.5.3 OS

We have OS 10.5.3 and have downloaded the newest version of Safari (3.1.1). However, it will not install. The message says that this version is only for OS versions 10.5.2 and newer, which we have! Any suggestions would be welcomed.

This seems to be ancient history by now, but even if you weren't able to launch Safari, you should have been able to use the Finder "Get Info" feature to determine the version number of Safari.

I know my version of Safari. I also know it won't run. It also won't reinstall as per the suggestions listed above.

Apple, please fix this.

I had the same problem. Fortunately, I have another Mac (MacBook Pro). I connected to it and dragged the Safari app to my MacPro and it worked.
