How to use a Kingston USB datatraveler

Hello All,

I have a new iMac intel computer and I just bought an 8GB USB datatraveler. I want to download some video to the datatraveler that I have on iMovie and/or Final Cut. If I plug this little unit into the USB port what happens next? How do I get the video footage into the datatraveler?

I would suggest that you reformat the DataTraveler to hfs+ using Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder. This will render it unusable with Windows, but will ensure a more successful storage/retrieval scenario on your Mac, particularly with movie files. HTH.

It should show up on your desktop as an external drive.
Then just copy this files onto it.

Thanks Patrick,

Anything else I should know about downloading to the datatraveler? How do I erase the data off of it when I'm done or do I just download over the old data like a tape?

Just treat it the same as your hard disk.
Just copy and delete as normal, nothing different is required.
Just make sure you eject (right click on the drive icon) the USB drive before disconnecting.
