I'm having the same problem with Boot Camp running Windows XP sp3 while using the track pad. I've had five BSOD in the past 5 hours. I analyzed the minidump file using the Microsoft debugger and it points to applemtm.sys as the problem.

From EVETNVWR: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000b8 (0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000). A dump was saved in: C:\\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP .

Like others I have never had a crash while using a USB mouse.

Try the latest bootcamp udpate:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/firmware_hardware/multitouchtrackpad updateforwindowsvista.html

It won't support the 17inch though 😟

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3336
This update improves Multi-Touch trackpad responsiveness and performance when running Windows XP and Vista using Boot Camp on MacBook Air (Late 2008), MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008), and MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) computers.
