Exporting to vcard

Hi,

How do I export contacts in address book to individual .vcf (vcards) without having to right-click and select each one and then export? If i select all and export it does not create a valid .vcf file.

If you select all and export, it creates a group vCard file containing all of the contacts. Some other apps (e.g. Entourage, Lotus) have difficulty parsing them out.

However, there's a very simple solution. Select all your cards, press and hold the option key, and drag them to the Desktop. You'll get individual vCards for all of your contacts (note that all the file icons will be stacked on top of each other, so you may want to drag the pile to a new folder and switch to list view).

Hope this helps...

thanks this seemed to work in that I got all the vcards out into individual files but it also crashed my dock so I wouldn't advise people to do this if they have over 100 contacts in their address book.

There seems to be some bug when stacking the icons - temperature went crazy and fans went crazy and I had to force quit the dock. not good. but thanks I got what I needed in the end. 🙂
