ELP! keyboard problem still persists....

I don't know how many out there still have this problem

But for me, the missing first keystroke is still present after the 10.5.3 update and all the keyboard updates

It happens when the keyboard stays idle for about a minute and avoids the first key pressed afterwards

At least this was better than before when 2 or 3 or even complete words would be missing.

Now it's just one key.

Is there any more fixes I can try or does Apple think this problem is already solved?

My MBP keyboard and touchpad stop functioning for no apparent reason. Often this happens when I am away from the computer. I have changed my sleep and screen saver settings and adjusted all the touchpad settings, too. However, it still happens. Not every time, but often enough to be completely annoying. The only solution I have found to date is to turn the computer off by holding down the power button and then reboot.

I have a similar problem. I notice this happens when my computer has been on for a longer period of time, and seems to be overheating. I've had to solve this problem by closing the lid or forcing a reboot.

Admittedly, I did drop my computer once. However, the mac store people did a hard disk repair (worked fine), and I ran a hardware diagnostic later, which also did not elicit any problems. Since there didn't seem to be any major issues with the hardware, I was advised by the mac store folks to just continue using the machine. Now this keyboard thing happens and I'm worried that it indicates a deeper problem that the hardware diagnostic didn't catch. I'm also out of Applecare warranty, so I hope this is not a major issue.
