If your podcast is not appearing - add your details here

From reading various threads it seems that lots of us are having problems getting our podcasts listed. I'm one of those whose podcast was listed as 'already submitted' but has not yet appeared in the directory.

There seem to be numerous 'theories' out there as to the reasons behind some of us not being listed. Can I suggest that anyone who cannot get their podcast listed (lets say you've been waiting several weeks) adds their details to this thread - as we gather more examples maybe we can work out what the issue is.

Suggest we leave the following info - location & podcast feed address as a minimum (can anyone else think of other useful info to gather?)

I'm based in the UK & my feed is at www.jamcasting.com/podcast/feed.xml

Cheers
Jim

I am a newbie podcaster (fluent in HTML however), but was able to create an XML file, using Feeder (dandy little shareware for creating RSS feeds, worth the $29), submitted the feed through the interface in iTunes, and had 9 episodes live in only minutes from the time I clicked submit.

The only issue I am having is that my "Album Art" is not appearing on the Client side once the podcast is subscribed to—it is however appearing in the iTunes Music Store.

Here's the RSS feed to the particular podcast:

How much did you need to change the feed URL for success?

OK--we have the same core problem: Submitted one feed, got the "took it down for technical problems" e-mail. Fixed the feed, tried to resubmit, but get the "Already been submitted" reply. We then changed the RSS name and URL and it STILL (even the first time) says "already been submitted".

--->I've seen a few folks on this string say that they have changed the feed and name, then been able to resubmit successfully. Could someone post their old feed URL (that "had already been submitted") along with their new feed URL (that worked)? Maybe we didn't change the URL enough (does that even make sense)?

It's been just over 24hrs and finally got feedback from iTunes via email:

Dear Podcast Creator,

This is to inform you that your podcast has been removed from the iTunes Music Store because of a technical problem with your feed.

If your problem can be resolved, you can fix it in your RSS feed, and then re-submit your podcast to the Music Store.

Sincerely,

The Music Store Team

They were right, it was fixed using FEEDER and republished.

That's the problem. They really don't have podcast support. You can go to the iTunes suppost section of the site, even select PODCAST off of the list, then fill-in the e-mail form...but this just gets you to a generalized iTunes group. I've done this, they sent an e-mail saying that they answer "non-technical" questions...and that I should call AppleCare if I need more info. I called AppleCare, bounced and bounced..iTunes support is the closest thing but even their supervisor level can't help. They simply NEED podcast-specific support. But they don't really have ANY podcast support at all. There must be someone in a room attached to a computer that can see all of the feeds that are active, in-review, have problems, or rejected. This person could very likely help all of us. But nobody can get me to that person.

Very well put, Pete!

I'm a newbie podcaster too, doing a podcast called 'edPod' for my sixth form college (King Edward's - hence the "ed"). I must have submitted it around the start of December, and on the 5th got an email from "itunesabuse@apple.com". It said there was a technical problem with my feed, blah de blah...

So I checked my feed by going to "Advanced">"Subscribe to podcast..." and subscribed to it. Surprise surprise it works fine. Put it through feedvalidator.org, and that brings up no errors. My feed is fine. My podcast has episodes. So what are these "technical problems"!? Eh Apple, answer me that?

After various emails to Apple, I'm giving up. I suggest everyone just tries not to worry about it too much, submits their feeds to www.ipodderx.com, www.odeo.com and www.podcastalley.com, and crosses their fingers.

Good luck everyone! And don't blame Apple too much - every company has its faults. In Apple's case, it's always been poor communication. Nice computers, but nobody knows about them... Cool podcasts, but iTunes says they're 'abusive'... oh well, they'll sort their act out sooner or later.

Best wishes (and crossed fingers)

I'm surprised to hear people still having trouble with their submissions. My first podcast did take a long time, maybe more than a month, to get published back in August.

I submitted a second podcast: http://feeds.feedburner.com/niotv on Saturday, November 19, and by Monday, November 21, it was up on the music store at: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=97154883

So I figured they had streamlined the whole process. One thing I have noticed is that people who seem to be having the most trouble are the ones using certain software to create their RSS feeds. Maybe you all should just use feedburner like we do, since they can validate the feed. They even have a free "Podmedic" service to make sure all the media is podcast-friendly with the right enclosures.
