iPhone 3G as Bluetooth-Modem?

Can I use the new iPhone 3G as Bluetooth-Modem for my MacBook Pro to go the Internet over UMTS?

At this Time I use a SonyEricsson for this job. But now the iPhone got UMTS...

Thanks for Answer.

A jailbroken Phone can tether using PdaNet which turns the iPhone into a router, sharring the connection using WiFi, much faster speeds without having to connect to your Mac "which I am sure you all know about".

I personally have seen a friends iPhone constantly reach 3 Mbps and max out at 400+ KB's on the Telstra Next G network in Australia. Telstra in Australia do permit tethering as we have caps here and not unlimited. We pay $59 for 1GB, $89 for 5GB of some of the worlds fastest HSDPA speeds.

Telstra has a 14 Mbps network in Sydney CBD though I don't think their are any devices yet that can utilise those speeds. I believe their minimum network standard is 3.6 Mbps up-to 14 Mbps in CBD.
