converting .dv files

is there anyway to convert a .dv file to a jeg or tiff file? i made a still frame pic from some footage and want to import to iphoto as a jeg.

is there a way or do i have to have QT pro? or does that even do it?

thanks for you help!

Press the Shift, Command, and 4 keys simultaneously, select the part of the screen you want to convert when the desired image is being displayed, and move the PNG on the desktop into iPhoto. If desired, you can use Preview to convert the PNG to a JPG; double-clicking the PNG will open Preview by default.

Thanks for the quick reply but i don't think i am understanding what you are telling me..

i went into imovie and hit shift command4 keys all at the same time. all it did was make a ding ding noise.

earlier i froze the frame while in imovie and chose "create a still frame" then i dragged it out to the desktop. then when trying to important to iphoto it gave me a message that it could not be imported.

i must not be understanding your suggestion correctly. what is a PNG file? i am seeing .dv file. is it the same?

help please!

thank you - i did find the smiley face, did as you said and it showed up on desktop as clip03.dv
and when i click it on it goes to QT.

i then hide all others in finder and it shows up as *Clip 03.dv* i don't see anything as picture.

are we talking about the same thing? i am sorry but it just isn't working. i will try again. thank you for your patience.

that is the usual way to create stills/'freeze frames' in iMovie ..

in what app do you like to import the still, what app gave you the message 'could not be imported'?

thank you Karsten...

i wanted to import to iphoto and i get that message that is is unreadable and it won't let me import to iphoto. i have imported hundreds of pics into iphoto so i know i am doing that right. i know it is just because it is a "movie clip still pic" and it has to be converted first to be readable.

on my desktop it shows a QT icon and underneath it reads "move clip.dv" if that helps.

thank you so much!

..

that's wrong.

you have TWO options in iMHD to create a 'still':
File/Save Frame ... hitting -F (as freeze, or frame)
or...
Edit/Create Still frame ... hitting ⇧-⌘-S ...

the first creates a Jpeg/Pict you can use in iPhoto..
the second creates a dv, showing a still, you can use only on iMovie..

hope that helps ... 🙂
