Meaning of rendered & unrendered?

Hi every one

I would like to know exactly what rendered and un-rendered mean in terms of FCP, how they affect the clips in TL if I render, or not render it, and why should I be warned and alerted about it every so often, and what should I do when I am warned.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone could provide me a meaningful explanation or some articles to fully understand their implications. golab.

Unrendered means that you're (and FCP) haven't had the need to change anything about the video or audio that's on your FCP Timeline. If you have a clip that doesn't conform to the Sequence settings, it will need to be rendered for output and often just for preview playback. Likewise, when you add effects or transitions to a clip, they will need to be rendered for output even though they may playback (preview) in real time.

When you render a clip or clips, FCP creates a new file, aptly named a render file. These files are nothing more that QT files, but with an FCP icon and creator type assigned to them. After you've rendered, FCP will no longer playback the original media ... it plays the render files.

As for your question about a warning; what warning are you referring to? We can't see your screen from here.
