Burn DVD Audio?

Lots of DVD players will play files like MP3 and MP4 (AAC) from DVDs. It depends on the player. This is essentially the same thing as an MP3 CD, just that you're using DVD media.

This is not to be confused with DVD-Audio, however. It is possible to burn such discs with OS X now, and user Kay Marczoch (hi Kay!) has done so succussfully using some obscure software. It's been a while since I read his post about this, so I can't remember all the details. However, there's not much point in creating a DVD-Audio disc if you don't have multi-channel source files to begin with...

That's possible (but not from iTunes):

You may either use Toast 6 with Jam / Toast 7 to burn a DVD-Video that contains nearly only audio data and a basic menu.
or
I you want to produce a true DVD-Audio you may use Discwelder Bronze resp. DVDAudiofile 0.5.2
DVDAudiofile is freeware and works quite satisfying; all other apllications are approx € 100.

It's the freeware application you posted about a long time ago when you burned your first successful DVD-Audio disc that I was referring to. I remember it well, and I think the software was like a diamond in the rough; no documentation, etc.

Note: For Windows users, it's as simple as using Nero's built-in "Make MP3 DVD," "Make WMA DVD," or "Make Nero Digital Audio DVD" options.

Thats's correct - there is no doc included in that freeware package.
Imagine how I felt after some trial & error with my first working DVD-A as a result.

btw - end of daylight saving time this night also in Finnland?

I didn't see an answer explaing how to do this. I also want to create a DVD from iTunes to play on my car DVD player ao I can have many more songs to play vs the CD's

Is it possible to burn audio onto a DVD that a DVD player will read? I recently purchased my first DVD Audio Disc which is the new Mudvayne and I was thinking how great it would be to be able to burn this type of disc from iTunes. Is it possible?

As explained above: iTunes can't create a DVD-Audio Disc
