I downloaded the shockwave 11 plugin and have it installed, but every website that needs it doesn't recognize that it's installed. I've tried using firefox 3 and safari and neither work. Any suggestions?
someone on an adobe forum had a fix that they thought would work, but I couldn't figure out where to put it. so I can't actually say if it works or not.
I have a (heinous) workaround.
1) Open up a terminal
2) if you don't have a lib directory for your userid, create it
mkdir ~/lib
3) create a link to the file it can't find (this is all one line)
This works because ~/lib is a fallback location when a library can't be found in its correct location. It's heinous because it has to be done for each user of the machine. It's possible that there will be problems with other shockwave component libraries, but it let me run the shockwave app I needed to run.
it seems that shockwave fixed the problem for some people late yesterday. I read a post on the adobe forums saying it had been fixed and to unistall and then download it again and reinstall (which I know sounds silly since I feel like all I've been doing is uninstalling and reinstalling). but now it all works for me. give it a try. it might work for you as well.
