Canon VIXIA HF100 - Final Cut Pro 5 Question

I am very close to purchasing a Canon VIXIA HF100 HD video camera. Will I be able to import the AVCHD files from the SDHC Memory cards into Final Cut Pro 5? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (I know I need to upgrade to Final Cut Studio 2 someday!) Thanks.

The only way I can think of to use the AVCHD files with FCP5 is to get yourself a copy of iLife08 and use iMovie08 to convert the files to AIC and use those. That actually isn't too bad, btw. Not as good as importing as ProRes, but you can't use ProRes anyway with FCP5...

Thanks. Just got a new Mac Pro so I do have iLife08. Not a perfect solution, but sounds like it will work until I upgrade.

Quick question...I just got the canon and iLife 08, how do I convert files to AIC and then get those files into Final Cut PRo 6.0?
