I'm sure not. But the point is that if someone here states a specific date, it sounds official and can lead to false expectations and disappointment. So we should avoid providing any sort of specific date for any Apple release unless and until Apple's made an official announcement.

No, he didn't, and no, you didn't hear right. Only the iPhone 3G was announced for July 11th. All Apple has said about the 2.0 update is, as we've said before, "early July". So no specific date is known; everyone is just guessing and assuming.

We'll, I'm going to retract my statement partially. The June press release now says (and I don't remember it saying so originally) that the 2.0 release and the App Store also will be released on the 11th, so you were partially right. But Steve said "early July" in the keynote and Apple's more recent statements say the same, so the situation remains up in the air. We'll just have to wait and see.

It is not certain that the update will be available on July 11th. All Apple's said, unless I missed an announcement, is "early July".
