Mac unable to access www.hotmail.com and msn/adium but windows is able

Hey guys!

Just 4 hours go i am unable to access www.hotmail.com

When i enter http://www.hotmail.com into SAFARI, it ends up with this message:

http://login.live.com/?id=2

+*The page is unavailable or no longer exists*+
+*The page you're trying to find is either temporarily unavailable or no longer exists.*+

+*Please do one of the following:*+

+*Click your browser's Refresh button to try reconnecting to the page.*+
+*Check the spelling of the web address in your browser's address bar.*+
+*Click your browser's Back button to go back to the previous page.*+

When i used my Firefox (MAC), i was able to go to the page to key in my details (hotmail email address and password) and when i click ok to log in. i was brought to the page with the message above.

When i tried logging on to Adium and MSN Messenger (MAC), it says my email account does not exist or i have entered my password wrongly.

okay the funny part is, i decided to load up Parallels with windows and using internet explorer, i was able to access hotmail.com flawlessly. And i was able to use the Windows MSN Messenger.

ANy idea whats wrong? Could it be some form of virus against mac?

Thank you!!

I am having this exact same issue. Every other website on the face of the earth seems to work fine - but no matter if i use Opera or Safari and try to goto a www.hotmail.com or login.live.com it tells me the page does not exist.

My Adium connection to MSN is also not working now either - getting the famed "Reading Error". I read their forums and found that this iss is pointed back to Apple for resolution as there was some change to how OSX handles DNS in 10.5 that is different than before.

I have reset both of the browsers and cleared all my cookies. I changed my ISP DNS servers to OpenDNS (they're better anyways) on my gateway and still no luck.

I also have VMWare Fusion running on this machine and fired up my XP virtual machine and opened IE on there - typed in www.hotmail.com and it worked just fine.

I called apple support and they were unable to tell me anything on this and even went so far as to say "you may need to do an Archive and install" - which is completely ludicrous and would waste a tremendous amount of time.

HELP!

J

I am having the exact same problem, started last night.

Can't open www.hotmail.com in either Safari or Firefox, getting the error message...

Can't sign into messenger using Adium, MSN Messenger for Mac or Proteus.

Can access www.hotmail.com and sign into MSN Messenger on my partner's PC which is on the same network and internet connection.

I hope there is a resolution for this very soon.

Just got a response from Microsoft on my open issue regarding this:

"Thank you for writing to Windows Live Hotmail Technical Support. My name is Alvin and I am writing in response to your issue signing in to your account. I understand how important it is for you to have this matter resolved immediately.

I appreciate your effort in reporting this to us. I would like to inform you that our Product Group is aware of this and currently in the process of investigating the issue."

So - looks like they're aware of it but have no timeframe or root cause at this time.
