Is it possible? XLS -> ICS

is there a way to transfer data from an xls file to an ics file, so that iCal can import the info?

The answer is 'yes' and I figured it out for myself.
Very easy.
Save the Excel file as a CSV
Then import, specifying where each field goes.

Clearly I was up too late.
I successfully transfer data from Excel to my ADDRESS BOOK, but I still want to transfer data from Excel to iCAL.

I googled and found some suggestions to try
