Since we in California can no longer talk on our IPhone while driving after July 1 without a hands free device, I was thinking of investing in a pair of those expensive ear plugs that supposedly enhance the music experience. (I've got a Jawbone for plain old talking.) I learned, however, you can't actually listen to these $199 plugs before you buy them. I guess ear wax is more dangerous than I imagined. Do you have to just buy them and return them if they're not much better than what comes with your IPhone? Seems pretty dumb.
There are lots of people like me out there in the world. We don't want other peoples bodily secretions on us. You may feel its unreasonable but we don't.
Then again, there are lots of people out there desperately searching for the chance to share other people's bodily secretions every weekend. But I know what you mean. So I guess the answer to my question is that you just buy the expensive ear buds, try them out and just return them if you're dissatisfied - and let the company toss them?
I have had an experience that is not unlike yours OP. It differs only in orifices.
Just the other day in the Beyond section of Bed Bath and Beyond. I was told no dice on trying the Sonicare tooth brush before purchasing it.
