Enhancing Crossfade

You might want to take a look at "Ask The DJ", from http://www.wildbits.com/askthedj/

It does a good job with crossfades, and even does some beat-matching as well. The UI is "quirky" to get used to, but ultimately it's a nice piece of work.

this would make itunes a great (and free) dj solution!
please apple consider this.

I sincerely like iTunes and have tried other audio software to DJ house parties but they do not have the comfort level of iTunes as far as usability, familiarity and crisp customised interface. We must have a 'forced crossfade' button.

Indeed it would be a day to celebrate when Apple takes the time to program in this tiny but infinitely urgent and important add-on. That, with the BPM matching, are to me the current missing ingredients.

You've requested this feature but how do you know anyone is listening?

I like the idea of a 'forced crossfade', and that combined with a BPM counter would be the best.
Sooooo..... can I ask if anyone knows of a programme, or script, to calculate BPM and add this to the song info?

This needs to be promoted.. we need to get a ton of attention to this post because this is one of the few lacking features in iTunes.
The only other feature which isn't in iTunes is a preprogramed shuffle keyboard shortcut, I know we can make our own, but it would be great if they all came with a quick shortcut to re shuffle to get a different song.. and subsequently it would force crossfade to the next song which it shuffles to..

Enhancements I wish to see in iTunes:
1) playlist prefrences:
- password protect each list from having songs added or removed. This way only those with admin rights can alter a playlist which is protected.
- each playlist should be able to remember their own playback prefrences (crossfade, sound enhancer)
- remembering song transition customized for each playlist song into the next would be even better. As each song can remember its equilization attribute, each playlist should remember transition attributes between each 2 songs.
- A visualizer option that is specific to the playlist. One of the visuliaer options should be a slideshow option linked to a folder on the drive. Again preferenced per playlist so each playlist can be customized. It would be even better if the slideshow was able to transition from jpeg to an quicktime movie, then transition to the next photo after the quicktime movie completes.

With computers becoming the home's media center (with multiple users) I would think these features would become essential.

I do agree with Enhancing Crossfade, "Apple" programers of iTunes should add crossfade songs when (1) using the skip back/forward buttons and (2) double-clicking a new song in the library. Basically, the plug-in should always have iTunes crossfade between songs, not just at junction of the end and beginning of a two songs. There is never a hard break between songs. Please here our plea for the Crossfading Enhancements "Apple".

Has no one yet found a plug-in or maybe another alternative to this--great but seemingly forgotten--feature?

Im actually listening to my "electrotherapy" playlist in iTunes and it would be wicked nice if I was able to skip to the next track in a smooth, silky fade over type manner.

Well just adding my .30 cents (what?? prices went up!! lol)

Am willing to pay a few extra cents (global intellectual input) to see this 'enhanced crossfade' feature added to iTunes ; )

Like many people around the world I also use my computer as a complete media tool/solution and I believe iTunes is yet to make progress regarding this addition in functionality. If anyone knows otherwise kindly lemme know.

I used to be a Winamp user and I loved the crossfade effect. I hope Apple decides to implement this feature soon.
