I was having the same problem. I submitted a trouble report and iTunes support (Heather and very helpful) suggested I see if the process Memonitor was running. If so, stop it and try again. Memonitor is a Verizon Music Manager process and when I stopped it, and tried to download again, it worked fine. iTunes Support had to allow the downloads again. It still seemed to take alot of CPU resources, but it would finish after the "Processing file" status.
THis might not be the same problem as other, but it worked for me.
That's not it. I live in Canada, no Verizon over here, and I have never plugged in a phone on my computer or installed any program that has to do with a phone. It has to be something on Apple's end I believe. I hope they can resolve this issue soon!
can only reiterate the same, I reported this after trying to download a PLUS album (which took 3 1/2 hrs)....I have no extra music management programs(save windows media player)....support implied it was anti virus software, but I don't have that either....now that the majority of the store is Plus this has the potential to be very annoying.
I did say the "Memonitor" solotion might not be the same problem as others, but it worked for me. I was just trying to get a solution out there that might help others. I understand there might be other problems causing this issue. I had the same symptoms as described above and now the plus songs download with no problems.
I'm having the same problem.
I downloaded three music videos (all PLUS) & it kept saying "processing file".
I'm a pretty impatient person so I tried to exit iTunes & it said something like "you have files currently downloading. if you exit, iTunes will resume your downloads next time it is opened."
So I restarted my computer, opened iTunes, & all the downloaded files were gone.
This is rediculous & it took my money as well.
Apple needs to fix this quick & give us our lost money back.
problem is still happening and again no help from Apple.
Last time I bought stuff it took me 3 days to get everything because of "problems".
They also said that problem did'nt exist until enough people complained.
I decided to give Apple another shot and here we go again.
GUYS--you have a problem....really.
BTW--have never had a problem with Amazon. Just sayin.......
had same problem....try this. i have internet explorer browser, i went to the internet options window, go to the security tab. Click on restricted sites and click on site button. look in the websites window and remove anything with ipod, itunes wording. close windows and restart computer. now open itunes and try to download music, it still takes some time 1-2 min (because of the 256K size?) but eventually the processing stopped and worked for me. so far downloaded two songs. Maybe windows updated this list and thus caused the trouble? hope this helps...before I had to manually run msconfig and allow only itunes to run to download music which was a pain everytime....
Just wanted to chime in and reiterate what everyone else has been saying, iTunes is spending an unreasonable amount of time "Processing file" after it's been downloaded. Hopefully this will get some attention if enough people report the issue. It's pretty upsetting to see a company with Apple's customer service reputation not even responding to this, though.
Another frustrated user here too! I contacted the iTunes Store only to be told they don't have the "resources" to help and then gave me a number to call (in the USA - I'm in Australia so that's no help either).
What I think is amazing is that this problem has been going on for 6 months at least (according to this discussion) and Apple have done nothing to help. What do we need to do??!! They are in danger of losing valuable customers if they keep this up.
Come on Apple - let's see at least
some response!!
Apple, you suck at life. You go ahead and make iTunes Plus the new standard knowing there's this crippling problem... I literally go out for a walk now when I buy an album off iTunes. Over 7 months without a reply? Are you even pretending to address the issues people have with your products anymore? Add all the weird iTunes "unavailable credit" issues on top of that for the last 3 months? We must be either pretty loyal customers to put up with this crap for this long, huh. You don't deserve our business.
You know, Apple doesn't test every little program that can be downloaded from the internet to a PC. Which makes good business sense, as they'd never get anything released.
Do some troubleshooting on your PC....other folks have posted that VCAST and other programs have been causing this problem.
Kinda similar to the 25+ posts per week from Sony Vaio users where the Sony bloatware is erasing their iTunes library. Yes, Sony, the makers of the brilliant rootkit, have found a way to hork iTunes.
Kinda similar to the 100+ posts per week where Norton blocks itunes store access after an iTunes upgrade.
I'm not saying Apple is perfect, but it could be some other software on your PC causing it.
Am having the problems on more than one PC, have done loads of troubleshooting over the past few months, have contacted apple along with many other people in this thread, Apple needs to acknowledge and address the issue in some way, shape or form. Innit.
