Restore Error 20. I want to know what it is and I want to know now.

This seems to have worked. After a couple of toggles, I now have 2.0 installed on my phone. I had to re-sync it, and I have over 2,000 files to put on it, I'm doing it now, and everything seems to be working. It seems to be syncing fine, and in the summary it said the software was 2.0.

I don't think this is correct. I downloaded iPhone1,2.0 5A347Restore.ipsw on Thursday and installed it on my 1st gen iPhone with absolutely no errors, messages or problems and it is working fine.

I have a solution that worked for me!!!
i had the error 20 and couldnt update the software from itunes. the phones was bricked from the actual Itunes upgrade. it failed and kept updateing the same file fix over 5 times (at 160+megs). i was able to hit shift+restore after i downloaded the file - which leads to the option of choosing the file to restore manually. - i chose the file that was released unofficially yesterday and already downloaded from someone else. After about 10 minutes - the phone was back in business and life is good.

I think they were changed yesterday. The one that was already out was, infact, the right version for the G2/first generation iPhone. I just know that second file works for people upgrading now.

You are correct. I finally found the info and am restoring to the official version as we speak.
