Yellow tint on iPhone 3G Screen

Haven't actually purchased the new iphone yet, but I do own Super Monkey Ball, Band, WeatherBug, and the Apple Remote app!

I've also upgraded to iTunes 7.7 obviously, but after reading this post, I'd like to hear from you satisfied customers who didn't get a lemon.

This is making me want to wait, but I know this forum is mostly for users with problems! So far I've had 3 iPhones qnd 3 MacBook Airs...I'd only like 1 or 2 3G's!!!

Hmmmmmmmmm....a previous poster mentioned an original 16 gig iPhone had the yellow tint. My 16 gig 3g phone has a yellow tint. Any 8 gig 3g phones out there that have yellow tint?

when i compared my friends 1st gen 16G to my 1st gen 8G, the screen also appears yellow.
either apple changed to a cheaper and yellowish screen supplier or its actually more correctly color calibrated, depending on what u want to believe.

Mine is yellow as well. turning up the brightness helped a small amount. restoring did nothing. I will be contacting Apple re: the matter for certain.

all 3 3Gs I looked at were 8Gb and all had the yellow tint. I am sure Apple changed to a different screen a few months ago and this is the result. I don't like it at all!!!

If it's a hardware issue across the board due to new screens then not much anyone can do about it.

Could it be some new backlighting or filter layer? Some cost cutting exercise to make the new phones cheaper.

A bit like when the Intel iMac screens went glossy vs matte perhaps - not much you can do other than pass on the product purchase.

My brother picked up a g3 yeasterday, he came over last night and we noticed the same thing. He's not too happy at the moment. He's going back to the king of prussia mall this morning to find out whats going on.

there is a solution that worked with most of people.

Out of the shop the iPhone software come with the firmware 5A345 but if you connect to iTune and do a Restore it will update with version 5A347.

Most of people report that after the update the screen is back to normal and don't forget to back up your iPhone before doing that.

unfortunately the firmware update did not resolve my problem

I am very dissapointed in the yellow tint. After reading of so many complaints I think I will hold off buying one until they fix this. Is Apple going to replace the defective sets. Hopefully they can address this fast !

does anyone have a 3G that does not have the yellow tint as compared to the original iPhone????

mines got a yellow tint in it too way different to my gen1 iphone

I was a bit freaked out by this post so I went and compared the two phone side by side in the dark just to get a good look at both. I don't seem much of a difference but then again I might be one of the lucky ones...

...my question to piggy back on what you're saying is...do you guys think that this is something that's going to progress or slowly happen to my phone? Right now they looks **** near the same...but with any first generation product...I start to read...self-diagnose and freak myself out.

Best of luck man...I have a feeling this is just the beginning of the problems and knit-picking...

The review I read at gizmodo simply states that the 3G has more of a yellowish hue to the screen compared to the cooler blueish hue of the first generation iP.

There are definitely varying degrees of this. I bought two 3g's yesterday. My wife's white phone looks great, more yellow than my itouch but the itouch looks blue biased. Mine is more yellow than hers. They definitely don't look the same. Apple needs to supply a gamma or temperature control. Looking at pictures though I have a hard time deciding which looks best.
