Apple server shutdown is blocking complete 2.0 update

My phone is stuck in the accessing store black hole and it is not active (only for emergencies). I was just doing my last sync before I went to get a 3G iphone and now I am stuck in this ****. The regular itunes store is working, just not the phone activation piece of it.

Im just doing some work and hope that they do not run out of 3Gs quickly.

well the reason i didnt update yesterday is because i didnt want to risk messing up my ipod touch
because the update was from unnoficial sites

Great, I need to go to work, and now I have no cell phone. I dont know why they couldnt have released this update for original iPhone users earlier this week.

they have plenty of iphonoe 3gs at the Apple store because last year after the rush to get the iphone there was still plenty left

Well the update did come from Apple's own site yesterday. The links I saw when directly to it. I didn't want it because I was afraid they might change something at the last minute.

Unbelievable incompetence! My phone is a brick because they were too dumb to allocate bandwidth???

jsook: That update wouldn't have worked for Touch anyway..it was just for the phone.

The server is not shutdown.

It is a bit busy, and it should eventually complete the process.

but you got to find it funny... think about how much the people at apple are running around right now... lol... little monkeys running around with no idea on what to do. lol

I don't think it's going to complete the process just from waiting when you get a connection error and it stops looking for a connection.

Anyway, is it true that I won't be able to use the iPhone until the final accessing iTunes store is completed?

I've just been disconnecting the iphone and ejecting it from itunes then connecting it again, it attempts to connect to itunes each time. I'm not sure why people are restarting itunes each time etc.
