iPhone 2.0 - Error -9838

Folks,

My iBrick is stuck on a -9838 error after attempting to upgrade to 2.0. It states that "we could not complete your itunes store request." Almost the second you plug it in, it states that there is a 9838 error and refuses to go any further. I've heard that the trouble is on Apple's end (a failure to allocate enough bandwidth), but would I be well-served if I just keep trying to re-connect, or is the error in my phone?

Your help is appreciated.

Folks,

I attempted to sync my 2G iPhone shortly after noon and got "the software is up to date message" with 1.1.4. I tried several times for 2.0 and no luck. I left the phone to charge and low and behold I was told there was new software available. I hit the download and install button and all went well, update installed, I went thru the iPhone connection screen with the cable and the iTunes logo and after some time I received an error-4 telling me to check back. I went o all the forums and was told all sorts of things. The only thing that worked was selecting Music library and iTunes Store and then my iPhone icon line- repeatedly for several hours . I even disconnected and reconnected( which you aren't supposed to do) but I kept up the process while doing other things and now finally at about 3:10 the connection went thru and my iPhone restored. It really took awhile. It finished about 3:42PM EDT. So, the problem folks is obviously overwhelmed servers and long lines( what a surprise)
but ultimately things will work. Apple isn't perfect and they and AT&T may have dropped the proverbially football but they did recover the fumble. Yes it is frustrating because Apple doesn't usually have these types of mass problems. Remember, things are only delayed but not broken. HAVE PATIENCE iPhone users.

I Gotta say I was having problems updating to 2.0 then I stopped and checked out the boards here. I guess I will wait for a week till the hype dies down. Now what I am am wondering is why Apple did not give us Old iPhone users that had it first and paid 500.00 a year ago, Why they did not let us download 2.0 a week prior to the release of the new phone. It sounds like the same stuff is happing all over again the servers can't handle everyone upgrading and getting new phones up and running at the same time!! Apple shame on you!!! You knew this problem could have happened again yet nothing was done to avoid it. Like I said you should have give us older iPhone users the "NEW TOYS" first a week earlier to perhaps get some bugs out!!! Thanks for the info here gang and good luck!! I will wait for a week now.
