Fix for Error (-9838)

Some one called apple support and this is what they told him.

"DO NOT disconnect your phone. Intead, when you get the message saying it timed out, click ok. Then click on any other heading, Music for example, in your itunes. Then go back and click on your iPhone icon."

I did this and now my iphone is working

I was getting the -9838 too after the initial 2.0 iPhone software installation. I was able to install the 2.0 iPhone software and get to the phone to work but I can't sync it anymore. The iPhone tries to connect to the iTunes music store and I now get a cannot complete message. I can connect to the iTunes store and all other functions are working properly. Still no iPhone syncing after trying the clicking OK and going to another tab and then back to the phone. HELP!

i cant believe this i have been without my phone for hours becasue my connection to itues gets timed out! why didnt they prerealse the software to current users a day earlier or even later to prevent this. now i am sitting here waiting to connect.

i have done the click on the other folder trick then click back onto the iphone but still to no avail. this has been going on for 2 hours. anyone elsehave ideas. can apple recongnize this issue and and tell us what to do? they knew how many cell phone were already in circulation and how many they were planning to sell. they should of been prepared! this is extremly frustrating!
