What a heck is "bogon"?

Out of the blue today in Finder's sidebar, in SHARED, just under the Time Capsule a new item popped up:

All...

Selecting "All..." in sidebar shows in Finder's right panel as follows:

- under Name - bogon

- under Kind - Neighborhood

Restarting Mac, restarting Time Capsule, disconnecting and reconnecting cable modem - nothing helps, I can't get rid of it and I have no idea what it is...

Have I been hacked?

iMac G5 20"/2GB RAM; MBP/2GB RAM, MB/2GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.5.4), iPod 3G, iPod Touch 16 GB

You may be just seeing someone else's system on your cable network. Many cable systems run a neighborhood as a single flat network, so anyone with file sharing or iTunes sharing turned on may turn up in the Shared section of other people's systems. If Time Capsule allows you to block TCP/IP ports for the connection to your cable modem, try blocking file sharing (port 548) and Bonjour (5297, 5298 and 5353) and see if the listing disappears. If it does, then you are indeed seeing another system on your local cable system.
