Yahoo Mail - alias workaround

Does anyone remember the Yahoo alias workaround that worked on the 1st gen iPhone? It worked by first setting up the Yahoo mail account, verifying that account and then going back to the settings page and changing the email address from the yahoo one to your chosen alias.

Well, I can't get it to work on my iPhone 3G.

Any suggestions?

I'm after exactly the same thing.

Had my account on 1.1.4 setup to send email from one of my address-guards - but this does not work with the 2.0 software.

Am desperate to find out!

I found a solution for me. I consolidate/forward several emails into my Yahoo account. In order to be able to send from those other emails I had to setup the other accounts on my iPhone then when composing an/replying to an email you tap the "CC/Bcc:From" then "From" field and select which account you want to send from.

The only problem is having the other accounts setup to receive email and thus getting duplicates. You can eliminate that problem my mangling the incoming server on the accounts you don't want mail coming from e.g. change pop.server.com to pop.server.co.

It's a bit slow and it would still be nice if you could set a default sending email but this at least lets me work again with push functionality and without duplicates.
