iPhone 2.0 - Can't locate me in Google Maps

Has anyone else found that their original iPhones can no longer locate them using triangulation? I click on the "locate" button in Google Maps and it just sits there for minutes and never locates me on the map. Is this a bug, or a problem specific to my phone?

The thing is that the Skyhook database of wifi routers etc could be what's making it work in places where the cell tower triangulation doesn't work, it's hard to tell I suppose.

For instance I live near Guildford and at the bottom of the high street (Guildford is on a hill), Locate me worked, but by the time I'd got half way up the road, it wouldn't work anymore. - Perhaps it's just a plot to get us to buy a 3G iPhone.

I guess all of us can just hope that we're in a good area when we really need to use locate me.

- The thing to remember is that is used to work OK, then suddenly didn't after the OS upgrade.

I've given in, unsubscribing from this forum thread now, and have upgraded to the 3G, maybe the plot has worked?

Ah well - good luck.
