Screen won't rotate when iphone 3G is tilted

First day with my first iphone, and I'm having trouble. When I tilt my iphone to type horizontally, the screen doesn't rotate! It rotates when I'm using the iPod function, but not when I'm say replying to an email. I've tried reseting/restoring. Anyone else have any hints? Thanks!

I have an insurance on the Iphone and they just picked up my iphone and send it for repair. Hopefully it doesn't take too long...

I had the same problem, probably a bad batch.

Anyways, after doing everything I could possibly do, I returned it and got a new one. I don't know specifically about your carrier but really if you return it right away as its DOA then they should give you a new one, not send it for repair.

I just got the 3G, I have a similar problem. My accelerometer seems to think that I am always holding it on its left side. As soon as I go into a rotation app, it flips right over, not way to get it back. Really only bothers me on the iPod part. I tested to see if it was just me, the app Labyrinth is pretty much impossible, the ball just flys to the left. I hope its a software deal, the apple store is busy!

Hi,

I have the same problem, when i am using the calculator for example it automatically rotates to "landscape". After switching the iPhone completely off or putting it on ac-power, it works fine for a while. After approx. 10 minutes it starts all over again. This is my second iPhone, the first one had a cracked screen, and i am thinking about cancelling my contract. At the moment it seems Apple is unable to deliver a proper one!

Good evening everybody.
I confirm that I have same issues than you.

My iPhone 3G screen rotate automatically in widescreen when i use iPod, Safari for exemple. And it's impossible to rotate back. So it's really difficult to use iPod function for exemple.

I am in firmware 2.0.2 (the last one i think) and this bug is always present.
Does anyone has a solution or informations from the support ?

Please help us or Apple will lose customers quickly !
