Exchange Birthday Shifted by 1 day

So all of my birthdays on my iphone 3g are 1 day earlier than they are in my outlook. I sync through an exchange server and i tried to check all the timezones were correct and it seems they are. Anyone else have this issue? Any solutions or suggestions? I use 1and1.com for my exchange and didn't have any problems with the birthdays on windows mobile 6.0 on my blackjack2...

thanks in advance.

make a new contact with date of birth 01.09.1969 in Outlook 2007, then sync to the iPhone, the birthday of the contact will be on the iPhone 31.08.1969, but not in calendar, in the contact!!! And it makes no difference, if Exchange or not! I tried it without Exchange, only with iPhone and Outlook 2007 on different computers wiht Windows XP and different iPhones! Always the same! And once again, the problem is in the contact and not the calendar! And the problem is the same without Exchange!!!

I just tried switching over Outlook, Windows, and the iPhone to Berlin and it all worked. There must be something different about our configurations. Which version of the iPhone OS are you using? Which version of Outlook are you using (Help > About Microsoft Office Outlook)

I'm using iPhone 2.1 (5F138) and Outlook 2007 (12.0.4518.1014)

Outlook 2007 (12.0.6316.5000) SP1 MSO, iPhone (5F136)
And with 1.14 there was no problem! And the only thing that I changed was the software on the iPhone! And the same time everything works with my HTC Touch! And I'm tired to try... Apple changed the software and since then the problem started, not me or MS or on my Exchange! The problem started that day I updated my iPhone!

tobei,
I still don't know how you are syncing your device. Are you syncing with Exchange through Active Sync? Are you syncing with Mobile Me over the air? Are you not using either one of those and just plugging your phone into iTunes and syncing directly with Outlook? Which is it?

I haven't forgotten your issue, but I can't reproduce it using the steps you provided in a Mobile Me or Tethered Sync configuration. The only thing that leaves me to believe is that you're syncing with Exchange ActiveSync.

ibaj,

tobei isn't the only one with this issue! There is a lot of us having this problem! If you read the whole thread you will the number of people including myself that have posted information on this bug. You will also see that people have said it happens both connecting to outlook via itunes and thru exchange (both of which is true for me), and it happens for certain months at certain years

pilot1620,
I read your post but it doesn't specify what mechanism you are using exclusively.

The problem is that everyone is shouting "me too" and not giving detailed information. For example:
iPhone 3G
Windows XP SP3
Outlook 2007 - No Exchange
Tethered Sync

OR

iPhone 3G
Windows XP SP3
Exchange ActiveSync

I realize that this whole thing is annoying, and I'm trying to reproduce it.

You said that you've had this happen through Exchange and Tethered Sync. When you switched to Tethered Sync, did you do the following:
1) On your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Your Exchange Account > Disable all syncing options
2) Connect your iPhone to your computer
3) Launch iTunes
4) Select the "Info" tab for your iPhone
5) Select the Checkbox for "Sync contacts with Outlook" & "Sync calendars with Outlook"
6) Scroll down to the "Advanced" section and choose to replace "Contacts" and "Calendars"
7) Click Apply

ibaj,

iPhone 3g
vista home premium
outlook 2003

cleared iphone contacts
removed exchange sync
cleared outlook

created new contact in outlook with birthday of Aprli 1st 1977
synced iphone via itunes 8

contact inoutlook still shows correct birthday
iphone contacts show the birthday as march 31st 1977
calendar shows a birthday of march 31st going into april 1st

time zones are all correct on vista and iphone

I've gone through every possible combination possible
Seems that the birthdays that get screwed up are between march and october before 1987.At least that is what I have been able to come up with. Others have reported more random errors.

I have reported this before in other posts

Thank you looking into this.

Great! This is a good step in the right direction. We can figure it out and get a glimpse of what's going on by capture some diagnostics from you.

If you don't mind, in iTunes, click "Help > Run Diagnostics," select all the tests, and run through them. Once complete, save the results (a RTF and SPX file will be generated) and email them to sync-help@apple.com

Ibaj,

Unfortunately I am away from home and will be away from my pc. If someone else can do what you requested it will be of great help.

In the meantime since it looks like you are looking into the problem can you do me a favor? Create a contact in outlook with a birthday of April 1st, 1977. Then sync the iPhone. When you look up that contact on the iPhone what does the birthday field show? Mine who'll show March 31st, 1977. I would love to know what yours shows.

Btw, what exactly are your credentials? Do you work for Apple, are you a programmer, customer service, engineer?

Thank you.

P.S. Has anyone else solved this problem? Or have the rest of you just given up?

Following your steps on a fresh installation of Windows Vista SP1, with Outlook 2007 and set to the Pacific Timezone, I get correct dates on all my devices.

I'm still waiting for logs from your iTunes diagnostics package (or anyone who is having this problem and NOT using Exchange).

As Nathan C said earlier, there is a known issue with Exchange that requires significant updates to fix, so if you're syncing with Exchange ActiveSync, that is most likely the problem.

As far as my credentials, I'm a QA Engineer for Windows Sync.
