Can you hear them if speakerphone is on?

Try connecting and disconnecting the iPhone headset to/from the jack about 10 times real quick to clear out an lint or foreign debris. Once you're done reset the iPhone: Press and the hold the Sleep/Wake button with the Home button for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears, disregarding the "Slide to power off".

Test it out.

Good luck!

The same thing happens to me once in awhile. Oddly, it didn't start doing this until about a month ago. I'm not sure why it started. But, you're right, the receiver part of the phone won't work sometimes, and you have to use the headphones or turn on the speakerphone function to talk to anyone.

The first time this happened, I took my phone into the Apple Store, thinking that there was a physical problem with the receiver. The Apple tech simply rebooted the phone for me, and it worked.

So, whenever this problem happens to me now (which isn't very often), I shut my phone off for about a minute, then restart it. So far, that's solved the problem each time.

Good luck!
