Apple Bluetooth Dual Dock discontinued

The Bluetooth headset no longer includes the dual dock - so are we supposed to use the 'travel cable' to plug into the back of the standard dock, and have the headset plugged in some obscure place behind the dock? Seems a bit strange.

Mind you, the Dual Dock did give me various USB issues (not working through certain powered hubs, or when connected to certain USB ports on my Mac) so maybe we're better off without it. Strange how a simple piece of hardware like this can be buggy.

I've tried using my iPhone 3G in my Universal Dock with the Bluetooth "Travel Cable" plugged in, the bluetooth would charge, but not automatically pair with the iPhone. Can anyone confirm if this is the case with the actual 3G dock? I thought this was the best feature of the Apple Bluetooth, having the dual dock.

Especially given the constant audio quality issues with the Apple handsfree, maybe it would just be easier to get a different device. 😟
