Currently Being ModeratedAug 21, 2008 9:43 PM (in response to geauxracerx)Thanks again for your work! It took forever to uninstall and then reinstall I even had to let it continue overnight then had to do a restore on my morning reboot then then then. Oy.
Now I just did my first sync after all that, even with 40+ apps, it took maybe 5 minutes!
I assume if I add an app from iTunes, the long sync will return the first time. That will slow me down on new stuff till they fix it. I have enough to keep me busy and I made sure all were up to date. Wow!Home Built Quad Core, Windows Vista, Ultimate SP-1
Currently Being ModeratedAug 25, 2008 2:10 PM (in response to Pagemakers2)Seemed to be overall the NUMBER of apps. I started getting slow again. So I redid the above and got tough. I'm down to 17 apps and it seems OK for now. This is a very unstable platform, for now. After 2.1 or whatever is coming we'll reevaluate. Having come from Windows Mobile 5 - 6 - 6.1, I know unstable. I find it amazing that with 6.1 my Dash was rock solid and that is when I leave. I'm a born beta tester! Of course I just started Mobile Me and am having other issues, but that's in another thread...Home Built Quad Core, Windows Vista, Ultimate SP-1
Currently Being ModeratedAug 26, 2008 2:42 PM (in response to domenicopanacea)I am about to throw this phone away! Ever since the 2.0 it is nothing but a pain to use and sync!
When I want to sync, the backup portion is taking 30 to 40 minutes before the sync ever even kick in. What is the deal????

Currently Being ModeratedAug 26, 2008 3:27 PM (in response to fivecatss)ive stopped having any backups of my iphone now,
it takes close to 7 hours to backup and the same amount of time to restore, and it still doesnt restore everything.
i know it wont be long before another apple logo lockup, so might aswell not bother.
anyone else starting to feel this way?Windows Vista
Currently Being ModeratedAug 26, 2008 3:34 PM (in response to Pagemakers2)The problem occurs when you install and or upgrade on the phone. I really do not think you people are even reading this thread. You are jsut jumping on here and whinning! The first thing that needs to be done to fix the problem is to upgrade to Common Sense 2.0
Then read the thread and get the solution to your problem.
Currently Being ModeratedAug 26, 2008 4:18 PM (in response to fivecatss)Okay, I followed all the instructions above, about deleting all the apps.
I did have one corrupt one left on my phone...removed it manually and reinstalled all of them with the instructions about.
Instead of 40 minutes...it cut it down to 25 to 30. Still too long in my opinion. Can any one think of anything else I can try???? I am only running 10 apps on my phone.PC
Currently Being ModeratedAug 26, 2008 5:15 PM (in response to geauxracerx)Well then this solution is a non-starter for me. I have data in my iPhone apps that I can't afford to lose.
Does anyone have a solution that preserves app data?Mac Pro, MacBook, Mac Mini x 2, iPhone 3G, Mac OS X (10.5.1), Thecus N5200
Currently Being ModeratedAug 26, 2008 6:49 PM (in response to domenicopanacea)I am getting real PO a but all the problems that my Iphone is having, I don't understand why it takes 45 mins to back up the data that i have on the phone. APPLE FIX THE PROBLEM ALREADY!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have a solution that preserves app data?
My backups are about 15 minutes or less with 66 apps installed on my iPhone now. The only thing I've done is never cancel a backup and always put the device into airplane mode when I sync (to prevent any calls from canceling the backup). Sometimes a backup will take up to 40 minutes, but it's not that often.
To preserve app data...there is no solution. Apple is going to have to provide it for us. I'm with you though...I refuse to delete all my apps and start reinstalling them. Losing app data is not acceptable for me, given the number of apps that I use that store their own information that would be lost in the process.Mac Pro (2.66 Dual Core Xeon), iBook G4 12", iPhone 3G 16GB, Mac OS X (10.5.4)
