Old iPhone chargers and the iPhone 3G

And the worst part is that the original Apple Bluetooth headset won't pair with the new 3G iphone because it needs to be plugged into the old adapter which accommodated both the iPhone and the Bluetooth headset. Now I have a useless BT headset.

I got this too. My belkin car adapter is nearly useless to me now. It works for the audio but I get a message that it won't charge the phone.

Why apple why?!?

My charger that was shipped with my 3G wont work, and nor will my last iPhone charger, I can only charge via a USB cable from my pc.
Taking a trip to the apple store tomorrow....

Didn't even think about the apple BT pairing issue.
How could that issue not be addressed.

I am a big fan of apple products and I most often keep my gripes to myself: But
to make the apple BT headset (which is one of the most expensive BT headsets on the market, and at best--not to mention plagued w. static/reception issues) obsolete w. the iP upgrade to 3G.

That's just insulting.

I have Bluetooth through my Camry Nav system and it has worked beautifully with my 2G iPhone. And, famous last words, I don't anticipate any change with the 3G ... when I get it.

For the second car in the house, which doesn't have Bluetooth compatibility, I searched the Apple site and found reference to only the Jabra 5050 (I chose the visor style) as being compatible with 3G. Who knows??? Anyway I bought that a couple of weeks ago because it also works well with the current LG phone they use and presumably will work with the 3G they have on order. CA just began a new Hands-Free law on 7/1 so we needed to do something for the LG user and couldn't wait for the G3 release.

In the AT&T Wireless store yesterday, the Sales Rep told me that the 2G car charger will work with the 3G and that I don't need a new one. He also said that the 2G dock won't work and that the 3G will now be sync'd with the USB cable connection between phone and desktop. He also said that the AC adapter for the 3G comes in the box.

My Griffin Power Jolt car charger seems to work fine with the 3G.

Good, Dave. I suspect there are several brands that may work. I'll have to wait and see what happens with my 2G charger when I get my 3G phone. Five to seven days, my order confirmation email said this morning re: shipping time for backorder.

thats for that info i was wondering how long it was going to take for them to ship the back ordered 3g i have on order

I was able to sync my 3G phone using the 2G dock. The fit was a bit tight but it still worked. Hope I didn't do any damage.

Has anyone had a chance to try the charging function on the Neo Ion or the Denison Ice? Any luck with the 3G version?

Since it's now just a simple USB connection, Luke, if I were you, I wouldn't risk doing damage to the new phone. What's the point? Use what they say we should use from now on and count yourself lucky. 🙂

the connector is exactly the same, wtil a usb to 30 pin, only difference is that the docks are slightly off sized,
