Can't resolve conflicts with Outlook Sync, Crash with AppleSyncUIHandler

System - Windows XP SP2
Outlook 2003
Itunes 7.7
Ipod Touch 32GB with 2.0 update

Updated yesterday to Itunes 7.7 and Touch 2.0 Firmware.

When I sync now I get a message that there are conflicts. If I choose "resolve now" I get a crash in AppleSyncUIHandler.exe and the loop repeats. I have reinstalled AMDS from the Itunes 7.7 archive.

All was working fine with Itunes 7.6.

Suggestions?

I have tried a couple other things to fix this with no success.

The last was a complete deinstall of AMDS, iTunes, and Apple Update, reboot, re-install. It seems to be the calendar and not the contacts that is causing the issue. I am able to update everything else included apps loaded from both the store and on the Touch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've the same problems..

System: WXP Pro NL, SP3
iTunes: 7.7
iPhone: Generation 1, 16Gb, firmware 1.1.4

When trying to sync the system says that there are problems with 139 calender items or contacts. When browsing all those items I saw differences between the types of the telephonenumbers, i.e. personal/work. When further browsing for items AppleSyncUIHandler crashes.

How can I solve that problem!!!!

AppleSyncUIHandler crashes

It would be useful to find out what's causing this crash. There are a couple of things that would be useful to diagnose this problem. The first would be logging and the second would be a crash dump.
{quote:title=Enable Logging}{quote}
1) We need to enable the various logs, so let's start my opening a command prompt.
- Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt

2) Switch to the Apple Mobile Device Support directory to begin by typing the following (you can copy paste all of these):
CD "%PROGRAMFILES%\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\"

3) Now turn on logging by typing the following (each line goes on a new line in the command prompt):
defaults.exe write -g SyncServicesLogEverything YES
defaults.exe write SyncServicesLogPersonalInfo YES
defaults.exe write OutlookSyncClient.exe ShouldLog YES
defaults.exe write SyncPlanObserver.exe ShouldLog YES
defaults.exe write com.apple.IE ShouldLog YES
defaults.exe write com.apple.WindowsContactsSync ShouldLog YES
defaults.exe write com.apple.WindowsMailSync ShouldLog YES
defaults.exe write com.apple.DeviceLink LogLevel 8
defaults.exe write com.apple.YahooSync ShouldLog YES

4) Once you've reproduced the issue, the logs will be placed in "C:\Documents & Settings\<username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\Logs\" You can compress these and email them to < aj.jones@apple.com >. Be sure and make the subject the same as this post

The next part is to enable crash dump collection:
{quote:title=Enable Crash Dumps}{quote}
1) In the command prompt window from before, type the following:
drwtsn32.exe -i

2) That's it! Once you've reproduced the issue, the logs & crash dump will be placed in "C:\Documents & Settings\All Users\Application Data\Micrsoft\Dr. Watson\" You can compress these and email them to < aj.jones@apple.com >. Be sure and make the subject the same as this post

Same problem after an upgrade to 7.7 and 2.0. Like others here, I tried total deinstall/reinstall.

A solution that just randomly worked for me: I only had 4 conflicts (not 100+, so I count myself lucky). Since the conflict resolver crashes as soon as you touch it, I only knew what the first conflict was. I completely removed that item from the contact list, both in Outlook and on the Ipod. It was a recurring item, so I killed off all recurrences, too. Just tried to sync, and I now have zero conflicts. Can't say what will happen if the conflict resolver pops up again, but at least for now it's gone.

Hope that helps!

I've a half workaround for the sync problem.

1. Connect iPhone to pc
2. Wipe Sync History in iTunes-Edit
3. Start Diagnostic Test in iTunes-Help
4. Select Connect and Sync options
5. Execute Tests (open command promt to see the process)
6. Manage sync errors without crashing AppleSyncUIHandler, mark outlook option
7. Finalize Diagnostic Test
8. Sync iTunes with iPhone
9. Test your applications and make combinations..

BE ALERT TO ERRORS IN THE SYNC PROCESS (iPhone <-> Outlook)

For both Contacts and Calendar, change values, add or delete items. Be shure to test both directions !!!!

Outlook -> iPhone (worked for me)
iPhone -> Outlook (no syncing)

My sync warnings are gone now but I see that there is no copying from iPhone to Outlook. The Contact items wich are edited in Outlook come double to the iPhone when changing aspects of an address, i.e. work/home/other

So you are warned... the old errors are gone but there are new ones instead.

i did not test the contents of iTunes. Did it sync or not?

Test it by yourself!

Hope this can help..

Harold
