MP3 Burning Error 4310

Hi everybody!
I am having a lot of trouble burning an MP3 music disc. Everytime I try to burn, it gets past the initialization, but immediately cancels the burn. Then a little error window pops up and says, "The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknow error occured (4310)."
I am rapidly running out of patience. If anybody has any tips it would be greatly appreciated. (Oh, and I've already tried reducing the burn speed.)
*I have iTunes 6.0.1.3
*If any of you have experienced error 251, try removing punctuation (e.g., ' " & @ >) from the playlist name.

Uninstalling Nero's not going to change anything because Nero doesn't use the CD filter chain, so uninstalling it is not going to change anything there.

If you're worried about being able to restore back to a given state, let's make the registry edit a little different.

On the start menu, click on "run". in the space it provides enter "regedit" without the quotes. This will open the registry editor.

Find the heading HKEY LOCALMACHINE. Click on it.
Find the heading SYSTEM inside it. Click on it.
Find the heading CurrentControlSet. Click
Find the heading Control. Click
Find the heading Class. Click
Find the heading that begins {4D36E965- Click

Go up to the Registry menu and select "Export Registry File... command. Make sure the "Selected Branch" radio button is checked and save that off somewhere that you can find it.

Delete the key named LowerFilter.

Select the key named UpperFilter, right click, select "modify". Then edit the text in the dialog to just say "GEARAspiWDM" followed by hitting the return key, the return after the word is important.

Then reboot, and see what iTunes does.

To get the system back to its previous state. Run Regedit again and use the Registry menu -> Import Registry File... command and select the file that you saved off in the first section.

If you export and then re-import that area of the registry, it's a little more safe / foolproof than the manual edit that I originally suggested. The problem is that you've got a driver from a company that's out of business wedged right at the front of your filter chain and it was never that good a driver to begin with. That's the AFS2K driver. I don't have any other good tools for getting rid of this stuff unless you know what software package installed it in the first place. You've also got a very old copy of CD Creator, so old that I think it might be the original Adaptec, not Roxio.

Hey toonz!
Guess what? It works in 4.8, which is installed on Windows 2000 on the same PC. Here are the CD Diagnostics:

Some Dell computers need an update to the ATA bus driver before iTunes recognizes CDs. If you have a Dell computer, check the Dell support website for details.

I am soooo happy to see that I am not the only one!!!! And depressed because no one seems to know how to solve this issue! I had the last version of iTunes..worked fine..then, at the insistence of Apple customer support..I stupidly upgraded to the latest version (why fix it if it ain't broken? I say). That was 2 weeks, about 30 useless emails and replies to iTunes support and $40.00 worth of music ago. I tried to burn..it started..cancelled, and lovely error 4310 popped up..did I mention what it has cost me in CDs???? Anyway, I tried switching back to the old version...Apple didn't like that and a little box popped up telling me not to think about doing that anymore. I tried reduceing burn speed to 8X..didn't work either...My music and PC are being held hostage by iTunes carelessness and no one there cares!

If there is any kind soul out there who could give me some idea before I go NUTS I would kindly appreciate it. Here are my CD diagnostics:
