Help I think my problem is slightly different , Half way through the upgrade I got an error message, can't remeber what it was. Computer flashed up message saying 'USB device not recognised' since then cannoit get the computer to see the ipod . all I have on the IPOD scvreen is a picture of the synch cable with an arrow pointing to a CD with a musical note on top of it.

Any ideas?

I'm having similar problems. Amazing Apple didn't fully test this before releasing. I have an ipod touch and tried to upgrade to 2.0 and received an error message (6) saying I needed to perform a restore. Now my ipod is a brick. I've tried restoring under new accounts and different computers. Nada. Look's like I'm going to need to take a trip to the Apple store.

After getting help from the Apple Call Center (which was little help). I Fix my iTouch by system restoring my computer to July 11th which was before I received a software update 1.1.5. I found an older verison of iTunes at www.filehippo.com and installed 7.6.2.9 iTunes. I then followed the restore procedures. I downloaded software update 1.1.5 and restored again. My libraries where empty. I closed iTunes, I then went to my MYMUSIC folded found the iTunes folder deleted the iTunes Library Data file and copied the iTunes Library data file from a folder call Previous iTunes Libraries, it had a date in the name, I renamed the file iTunes Library. Then synced my iTouch, everything can back. I will not be buying iPhone Software 2.0. I did send a request to get my money back. I hope this helps

While troubleshooting my wifi not working, i tried a restore and kept getting this error. after 6 or 7 times i left it and came back 4 hours later and tried it 3 more times... the 3rd time that time it worked... no error message. I never changed anything on my side during the trials, it just worked out of the blue for no reason... but at least my ipod is working again... well except the wifi...

Thank you for the suggestions. I have restored my Touch but only to the pre-January software version. This all happened in my attempt to upgrade to 2.0. I wish I were back to the January upgrade because I used the weather feature a lot. Thanks to other users, I can at least get back on track. Interesting that I'm out $20 for the Jan upgrade and $10 for the 2.0 upgrade and I'm happy just to have basic functionality restored, but I'm amazed that Apple doesn't seem to take ownership, provide some help, or at least make refunds available.

That's not actually a fix unfortunately, just a workaround, in which case we shouldn't have to do. I've attempted to get it to work using that method but after restarting itunes the second time, it doesn't recognize the ipod unless i redock it and it starts the process all over again ending it with an error 6.

Just thought you ought to know the following thread actually gives a fix for this error:

Not for everyone -- It didn't work for me. I've also tried installing the 2.0 Update from three different computers, the latter two (one Windows, one MacBook Pro) both had previously installed the update on other people's iPods. So, in some instances, the problem is related to the specific iPod Touch itself. (P.S. I can always restore to 1.1.4 without a problem; only 2.0 doesn't work.)

Follow up: I sent back my iPod Touch for warranty service and they determined it required replacement. I now have a new iPT and it installed the 2.0 Update without a hitch.

NOW I have the problem problem with the battery life, as mentioned in some other posts here. Yesterday I went from full charge to 20% in just 10 hours on standby, and that's with WiFi, locations, push, etc. shut off and no installed applications yet.

This 2.0 Update must be causing Apple a ton of grief.
