Cannot edit Outlook Calendar Events on iPhone

I have upgraded my iPhone to 2.0 software, to sync with Exchange Server. As per company instructions, I have connected to the Exchange server via owa. Email and contacts sync fine. Calendar events that I enter on my iPhone appear fine in Outlook on my desktop. Calendar events that I enter on the desktop can be viewed on the phone, but I cannot edit them. The edit button disappears. The phone seems to think that I have been invited to an event (it offers "Accept" "Maybe" "Decline") but even after I "Accept" it does not allow me to edit the event from the phone.

Any ideas?

I found the fix from another post. Fix was posted by cmaglinger.

You have to match the capitalization or the exact format of your email address from active directory.

On my iPhone, I first had exchange configured with all lowercase characters for my email, but my email in AD had some capitals. So, I just changed my iPhone to match AD.

That fixed 2 things for me:
1) Quit getting invitations from everything that I created even if just me attending.
2) I am now able to edit all appointments wether created on pc or iPhone.

Hope this helps you too.

Okay, I got mine to work. One of the solutions was to make sure you enter your name exactly how it is in the Active Directory - that for some reason the iPhone is case sensitive. My username in Active Directory has three capitals (I had to check with my IT guy). So, first I went into the Exchange Account settings and changed my username to be case sensitive. That didn't work. So, then I changed my email address to the correct case (for example, I changed it to UsErname@mail.company.edu. Bingo! Once it re-synced my appointments set up correctly.

I would be interested if this works for others.

After using the correct email address and still not getting the calendar to sync correctly. I did a little more research and found that some people had to upgrade the firmware on the phone to get the phone to sync correctly. By restoring my Iphone which updated the firmware I was able to get the calendar working correctly.

Hope this helps.

Anybody know about a spell check function for email on Iphone 3g?

The thing that actually worked for me was putting my email address in EXACTLY how it was in Active Directory. For example, our IT staff capitalize the first 2 letters in our username. Normally, this doesn't matter, but for some reason it does (likely a bug). Once I made sure I had it matching and resynced everything works perfectly. You may have to ask your IT staff how your username is formatted.

Here is how I solved this problem (e.g., the problem of being unable to edit calendar events in the new 2.0 iPod/iPhone software). First of all, my calendar, email, and contacts are stored on a Microsoft Exchange 2003 server. Second I was able to sync wirelessly over WIFI.

I tried changing my user name on my iPod Touch from "user" to "UseR" (in other words, I called my CIS support and got the exact capitalization of my user name). I changed username spelling in the preferences on my iPod Touch with the 2.0 software. But I still had the same problem: all calendar entries were invitations and could not be edited. So I took a deep breath and deleted the account off my iPod Touch. Then I started afresh with the new, correctly capitalized username and all other account info. After the device resynced, VOILA! it was fixed. I am now able to edit all calendar events, and there are no more silly invitations. I hope this helps someone out there!
