iPhone ActiveSync Exchange with Public Folders

If they are in the Exchange Global Contact List they are accessible from the Contacts application.

I'm also looking for a solution to this problem...

I haven't been able to find a way. However, Outlook can copy them to Contacts making them available on the iPhone.

Do you know of any Outlook Add-ins that can keep a Public Contacts Folder in sync with Personal Contacts?

I don't, but I never searched for one. It sounds like a good idea. As there is an option to save a contact in the local contacts it would be pretty easy to write as a macro.

It's not the most convenient of solutions, but until there is a more solid method put in place by MS or Apple, you could try accessing public folder items using Outlook Web Access if it's available.

I think there is a way in the Microsoft Exchange system manager inder the IMAP protocol properties to choose weather to display the public folder or not. This needs to be set by your Exchange system manager though.

We have the same issue. Unfortunetaly, there are so many shared contacts that it would not be feasible to copy them down to each local contact folder for use with the iPhone. It would be great if there was an app that could help with this.

Also, has anyone noticed that you can't add recipients to appointments on the iPhone. You have to do this from outlook, or OWA.

I'm not too familiar with the Microsft Exchange end or the terminology, but I am able to access my company's global address list through the Contact application.

-When you open up Contacts, click on 'Groups' in the upper left hand corner
-Click on the account under 'Directories', usually the name of your Exchange account
-It should bring up a 'Search Directory' function.

At this screen I am able to access any of our 5,000+ employees included in the Global Address List.

That's right, except the feature I want is to access a shared contact list that can contain any contacts, not just internal employees

As you know activesync only syncs your contact, calendar, and email on the iphone. You can copy the contacts you need the a Public folder to yours. Then if the Public contact is updated a 3rd party software will send you a link to update your copy in your contacts. It cost about 20 bucks.
