iPhone 3G Lag is intolerable! Video examples included.

We are a couple of swedish guys that have been talking about the Iphone 3G since we bought it and then we started to compare the old phone and the new and everyone had extreme problems in lag in the interface on the Iphone 3G compared to the 1st Gen Iphone. So we decided to make a video so people can really see and compare.

This lag that people are having is not the only problem but is followed by Applications crashing, OS is freezing, safari going haywire. touch not responding.

Also ive gotten info that upgraded 1st Gen Iphones that have updated to 2.0 is getting the same lag.

1st video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE7HKFcQxoI
2nd video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DL7n9Vo7mJw&
3rd video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLoAWRU0mHE&NR=1
Anyone who can reproduce this?

2.0.1
CONTACTS lag is better but not fixed - then screen is frozen until you touch it, and then only unfreezes after about a second.

SMS is much much better - keyboard seems nice and snappy now

EMAIL - this seems even worse - i went to contacts - selected a contacts email address to and started writing an email and the keyboard was so slow it was unusable. I could have persistent i suppose but it would have taken me 5 minutes to write one line.

Hi guys,

I am the author of the http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=DL7n9Vo7mJw video showcasing the poor typing speed on the iphone 3G.

I have made another video showing the exact same issue with an updated (to 2.0.1) iPhone 3G.

You can check it out at http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=vaaSFZ9GvyY

Things were all good for a couple of days and then BAM it was back to lagging again.

Not happy apple, especially when I have been in to the "genius bar" at the Sydney apple store and was told that i "would just have to wait for the firmware update to come out to fix this issue" and that they would log the problem as a known issue so that it would be fixed.

My phone started lagging significantly after the day i bought it. It is very apparent in the SMS and contacts applications, to the point where i don't even want to open them anymore(I would rather spare my self the frustration and disappointment). But unfortunately it is not only those applications, but the phone it self.
I'm beggining to lose hope, i went to the genius bar and they told me that everyone was experiencing the issue, as if that was the amazing solution i had been seeking.
The 2.0.1 did nothing, I'm still experiencing the same problems; it appears that many others are too.

Hi , I am waiting for the iphone to come out on 3 in Australia, and I saw my first working iphone just yesterday, and I was very surprised at the lag between applications, i.e going from home to camera back to home to any of the other applications...put me right off getting an iphone at all....even a 1 second lag seems too much for me when I don't experience it on my current phone...are you guys willing to settle for this...after all the hype...

Having the same issues.

My advice....please turn every feature on the iphone off...3g, bluetooth, wifi. Everything that you bought the thing for and then it might work.

This could be a great phone but WAY to many bugs....should have know better with apple and its first releases. They ALWAYS do this. Release something with bugs and then tweak eventually getting a superior product. Does anyone remember the Mac Book Pro launch. People had soooo many complaints with the original release and now the laptops are the best!

They should be doing it the other way around so when it comes to market there are no problems. But that might make too much sense....I am going back to my Newton.
