iPhone tells me my exchange password is wrong when it isn't

Hi,

This is starting to drive me a bit mad.

I have set up the iPhone to do exchange, and despite entering the correct password (I have tested this by logging on to the web version of exchange using the password) I keep being told by the iPhone that the password I am using is wrong.

I have downloaded a digital cert to the iPhone from the companies exchange server website etc.

Driving me mad. Has anyone else experienced this? Could there be another password I'm not aware of?

Lets try to be helpful and not condescending. Posters to these forums have a variety of backgrounds and skills sets and experiences, and I'm sure that we can assist people with varied skill sets without eroding morale.

Hi jmwmac.

Did you ever fix this problem?

I believe that my issue is similar - however, the password is correct.

If your issue is similar to mine, the certificate is not being offered for authorization and it is trying to log in as anonymous. In our set-up the ISA 2004 server which is authenticating the login doesn't allow anonymous and returns a password error.

I am still trying to find a fix for this - Apple Support have not been any help.

Hi Jason L

Thanks for your response. I have been working with the Exchange Admin on this and he has checked the Deployment Guide, and all setting appear to be set as required.

We have found that the certificates installed don't appear to be "served" by the iphone. We turned off certificate authentication on the ISA server and the iPhone did sync so the connection would work. However, when certificat authentication is turned on, we can capture in the log that the iPhone is attemtpting to authenticate as Anonymous and hence failing.

We have been attemtpting to sort this out for about a fortnight now without success.

PS I should mention that using the Safari browser, we can't access OMA either as the certificate does not appear to be used and we get am Error 401 Unauthorised as we do not accept anonymous logins.

I'm having the same problem too....well had. What I did was to remove the @mycompany.com from my username when I set up the exchange settings.

So, for username I put in:
mail\firstname.lastname

My server domain is mail and my email address that I use to log into webmail is my full email address. I tried dropping the @mycompany.com and it has been working for a couple days now.

Just thought I share.
