Help! My keyboard shortcuts are not working

Turn off expose and spaces. Go to Keyboard in System preferences and turn on the 'use function keys in applications' or something like that.

Otherwise, get a new keyboard.

Hi I'm just wondering what the answer was that they gave you to fix this as I'm having the exact same problem with mine?
Basically when I'm using Final Cut Pro 6 and I hit F9 or F10 keyboard shortcuts for insert and overwrite all that comes up onscreen is a horizontal line with a few really small lines over it, almost like a little sunrise (a la the picture on the actual F9 and F10 keys, and a small "not allowed" symbol underneath it, similar to the "no smoking" signs except without the cigarette obviously!)

Then when I went into system preferences, went to keyboard, and ticked the "use all F1, F2 etc keys as standard function keys" box all that happened when i tried them was that it did stuff with the windows, separated them and what not??!!

Any help would be very welcome!

Go to System Preferences > Expose and Spaces. Completely de-activate or re-map the keys elsewhere. Mine is set up to map those functions to other keys:



You can turn off Spaces by clicking it's tab and unchecking the "Enable Spaces" button at top left.

just hit hold the command key and hit the function key and you will get the correct action in FCP on a macbookpro
