I am still not capable to download the famous 2.0 always the same error merssage 3259. Even apple could not help me. Am I the only one with this 3259???
same here, no its not unlocked, no its not pwnd, no changes except for the firmware updates provided by apple.
downloaded itunes not once, not twice, but three times and still get the same error message. seems to me that apple is just like all other cell phone makers, put out one good product and then in a rush to make it better, actually makes things worse.
Same here, checked everything I could possible think of what might be wrong with the network connection. For as far I can see there are no problems whatsoever...
At first it didn't work for me changing all these settings, then I just disabled everything I could think of which could protect my computer.
After completely disabling my firewalls (both windows and router), no results.
But as it turned out, turning of my antivirus-software(NOD32) did the trick...
I know that others have given methodolgy for bypassing the horrible error 3259 for Windows XP, but I would like to add my 2 cents since I just completed it successfully and was able to sync using Outlook 2007, so all is well now (until Apple screws it up again, of course!!)
1) download and install the new iTunes 7.7.1.11
2) click Start, Run "msconfig"
3) click the general tab
4) select the 'selective startup' option
5) deselect the 'load startup items' checkbox
6) click the startup tab
7) select the 'itunesHelper', 'qttask', appleSyncNotifier' and 'ctfmon' checkboxes
8) click the Services tab
9) click the 'hide all microsoft services' checkbox
10) click 'disable all'
11) click the 'Apple mobile device' and 'bonjour'
12) click OK
13) click restart in the next dialog box
14) after restart, a window appears...click OK
15) the msconfig window appears, click cancel
16) open iTunes (with iphone plugged in) and it should ask to download the 2.01 software. If not, click 'check for update'
Go ahead and download/install, then sync and all should be well
Sorry to hear that. Both my wife and I (on separate computers) used the above technique and it worked just fine. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work for you.
Of course, now the problem is slowness....the phone is really slow to do everything!!!
Why is it that when you want to do something with the icrap, you have to perform some type of work around, jump through hoops or what ever? When I first got the device when the firmware updates came out you connected, updated and then went about your business. So here comes firmware 2.0 first gen phone took awhile to get it and every since its been a pos, great help from the users here on the forums, but apple does not have an explanation for what the error code means, can't help. This device is becoming a joke instead of just keeping it simple and providing great service to end users apple went and attempted to get into the corporate market, I believe this is where the problem lies the device is not built to handle all these services that they say it will do, even abc news states buyer beware because of the complaints and apple falling short on the "3g" performance, for those of us who have the 1st gen version it is turning it into a device that no one wants, so much talent at apple and so little function for the iphone, send it in to be fixed, send it in to replace battery, no mms, no copy and paste, oh but if you perform a million work arounds you can have these features.
well looks like this iphone will be sold to the highest bidder.
Had the same error 3259 for over two weeks now - I had tried numerous times to download the update with v7.x and the new v8 of iTunes but this did not resolve the issue. Just spoken with support and they sorted it! The one thing i didnt try was to connect the iphone in a different USB port - apparently there is an issue with timeouts. Maybe driver updates will help with this?!
I swapped over to my second USB port, rebooted with the iPhone connected, the download worked fine. Hope this helps....
