Error With Limewire

I have an older version of LimeWire (4.9) on my Mac, and when I go to open it, I get the following message:

"Your machine does not appear to have an active internet connection or a firewall is blocking LimeWIre from accessing the internet. LimeWire will automatically keep trying to connect you to the network unless you select "Disconnect" from the file menu."

I am connected to the internet and I have turned off my pop-up blocker, yet the problem remains. Any ideas?

Power Mac G5 (dual Proc.), Mac OS X (10.5.2), 3 LaCie external Firewire hard drives (120GB, 500GB, 1T)
