hi Kristen!

I have not gotten a single error message and itunes does not show up in the windows task manager.

gaah. okay, let's try the following technique to try to find out if you've got a nasty malware problem that is going around:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538

... do you find any weird 4-letter or 6-letter names in your Startup that don't return any hits if you do a Google on the name?

hi Alouch!

I can get quicktime to work but not Itunes at all. I even tried the NIS firewall disable trick.

let's try to work out what's going on. reboot your computer. then open your Task Manager to the Processes tab. try to launch itunes.

do you see an itunes.exe process appear? if so, does it persist in there or disappear after a few seconds?

PS! quicktime WILL NOT open! an hour or so ago the quicktime program would open for a couple seconds but then it disappeared but i took no note of it. just now i tried to open it several times to see if that might be a problem for itunes and it gives me this message:

some of the file types associated with quicktime applications are currently associated with other applications. should i restore these file type associations to quicktime?

when i try to click YES the box disappears...

agghh! i need so much help!
