HELP!!!!! iTunes will not open!!!

My itunes used to work perfectly. But recently since a week and a half ago it will not open! I have tried almost everything I can think of. I've reinstalled it and uninstalled it. My norton anti-virus expired so I unistalled that and I'm not sure if any other virus programs are blocking itune access. I've been searching for help for way too long. please help me! i neeed itunes!
I am using an XP with service pack 2 and just recently installed itunes 6 several times.

Yep, looks like we're in the same boast. I've done just about everything. If I can't get any help here soon I'm thinking about just completely deleting all of my Itunes. The only problem with that is I don't know if all of my music is in My Music folder on my hard drive. And it would be a shame if I lost anything that I had in Itunes anyway like videos and playlists.

Right u guys sorted!goto add and remove programs and remove i-tunes and quicktime then into windows explorer and delete everything i-pod related, even in other users on pc, get rid of the lot .then re-install off disk offline .Just done it and its worked for me only trouble is lost all my library but at least can start again GOOD LOOK EVERYBODY!!!!!

Wow! you must have had your whole library backed up... Hopefully! I'm hoping for a less drastic measure but if not your suggestion seems to be the way to go. thanks
